Leveling the playing field?
We got a letter from a guy who runs justicefiles.org. It is a website that lists the names, addresses, phone numbers, in some cases social security numbers, pictures of houses and cars that belong to area police, prosecutors, and other court workers, corrections officers, and in some cases others involved in the criminal justice system. He is working to expand the database to every criminal justice employee statewide. He is asking for the records on our county employees. He feels that by publishing this information the average citizen will be protected from the police. It will "level the playing field". It is interesting that he feels that way. Last time I checked the cops don't have a website with all the citizens' social security numbers, home addresses, pictures of their homes, and what not on a website. So what is the real point of the website? Why should someone who works as a court clerk, not really anything more than a secretary, have his information online like that? How is that leveling the playing field? Is this more of an intimidation tactic from some disgruntled ex-con? And, yes he is an ex-con. Well, you can look up his website and decide for yourself. My opinion is that, yes, it is for intimidation purposes.
